If a filer has not submitted his return for the year 2019 within the due date, will the taxpayer be inactive on FBR portal? What is the procedure to make it active?
The taxpayer who has failed to furnish his return within the due date, his name will become inactive and will not appear on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) shown on FBR portal. Therefore, in order to activate his name on the portal, the taxpayer needs to pay default surcharge
First, payment of default surcharge of Rs. 1000 is to be paid under section 82 of the income tax ordinance 2001at any National bank branch and only then the individual taxpayer will become active tax filer within 24 hours.
After having paid the default surcharge of Rs. 1,000/-, the taxpayer is required to fill the tax challan which is available online on e-fbr portal, by clicking create payment column. Necessary information in the tax challan shown on the portal be inserted i.e. Tax year, CNIC No, payment by cash or cheques etc.
